Everything I Thought I Knew (EP)

Track 1

This is probably the most vulnerable song on the EP. It’s just piano and vocal, left really raw, with all the little imperfections still in there to make it feel as real as possible. Lyrically, it’s about questioning personal growth—feeling like you’re moving forward but still carrying the same emotional weight. The last lines, “I love you, even when it’s hard to stay,” are almost whispered, like trying to convince yourself of something you’re not sure you believe.

Track 2

This song came from a place of feeling completely overwhelmed—by social media, the news, my own thoughts, everything. The lyrics shift between being inside my own head and looking at the people around me, realising we’re all probably feeling the same way. The build in the song reflects that, like it just keeps getting heavier and heavier until it finally drops again. But really, at its core, it’s just me trying to ask someone if they’re okay.

Track 3

"Secondhand" came out of that strange in-between space after a breakup - when you're technically free, but emotionally, you're still wrapped up in someone else. I was trying to move on, but everything new felt like a reminder of what I'd lost. I've always been drawn to secondhand things -thrifted clothes, worn-in shoes, stuff that carries a past - and I realised love felt the same. No matter how new it seemed, it carried an imprint of the past.

Track 4

This started off as a way sadder song, but by the time I’d finished it, it turned into something way more defiant. It’s about realising that maybe you don’t need the thing (or the person) you thought you did, and that actually feeling like freedom instead of loneliness. The crowd vocals at the end were important to me - it felt like the song needed other voices to make it bigger than just me, like it’s something we’re all shouting together!
